The development of nanostructures with proper surface functionalities is an important step to produce organic-inorganic hybrid nanomaterials. Recently, we reported cyclodextrin-covered organic nanotubes (CD-NTs) via self-assembly of dendrons with focal pyrene and cyclodextrins. The surface of CD-NTs can be presented by C6-functionality of CDs, thereby enabling the construction of various functional nanotubes through self-assembly of functional CDs and dendron. The functional nanotubes with amine or carboxylic surface functionality could be effectively utilized as the nanotemplate for the orientation and direct nucleation of inorganic nanoparticles such as Au, Pt, Ag, and Co3O4. These nanotube-nanoparticle systems exhibited unique materials properties for nanoelectronics and nanobio applications. In this work, a strategic approach to construct a variety of the hybrid conjugates of CD-NTs with metal nanoparticles will be discussed. |
