Folic acid conjugated core-shell microgels containing magnetite nanoparticles as multifunctional anticancer drug carrier |

In this work, we prepared core-shell type microgels using folic acid conjugated poly(N-isopropyl acrylamide)(PNIPAm) microgels containing magnetite nanoparticles (MNPs) for active targeting to uterine cancer cells (HeLa). Core particles containing MNPs composed of PINIPAm were prepared by precipitation polymerization, and. shell part was copolymerized with the amine-functionalized monomer for conjugate folic acid via EDC/NHS reaction. Folic acid conjugation and biocompatibility of microgels were confirmed with zeta potential and MTT assay. Cellular uptake of the folic acid conjugated microgels in HeLa cells was performed to confirm the effect of target-specific ligands. |
