Development of Cardiogreen-Polymer Dot Encapsulated by Silica Nanoparticle for Cancer Cell Imaging Probe and Photothermal Therapy |

Nanoparticles involving intermolecular interaction between cardiogreen (ICG) and fluorescence polymer dot (PD) as pH-responsive fluorescence nanoparticle to detect cancer cells and near-infrared (NIR) controllable photothermal therapy (PTT) was designed. Interaction between ICG and PD is employing the electrostatic interactions between the quaternary amine of the PD with ICG (SO3-) while the hydrophobic side will undergo hydrophobic interaction and π-π stacking with the PD's aliphatic chain. ICG/PD-MSN displayed a pH-sensitive response which promotes the release of ICG when exposed to acidic environment distinguished it from physiological condition. ICG/PD-MSN exhibited pH-dependent photon to heat conversion which adequate enough to kill cancer cell in acidic pH. |
