Slica is used extensively as a filler and reinforcement in polymeric matrices. However, few studies on the incorporation of silica into biodegradable polymer found in the literature, except for PCL/Silica by sol-gel process. Poly(butylene succinate)-Silica was prepared in the presence of silica (up to about 5 wt% of total monomers) by employing two-step polycondensation. From solid-state 29Si-NMR, it confirmed that silanol-bound carbonyl groups were successfully formed. Dynamic mechanical properties and melt rheological properties of resulting polymers were investigated using DMTA and ARES. The biodegradation rate was drastically accelerated with increasing silica content. |
