제목 | Effect of Surfactant on the Morphology of Nanocrystal – Polymer Composite Films |
초록 | We studied the microstructure of cadmium selenide and poly-3-hexylthiophene (P3HT) blends using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). When the surface of the nanocrystals is treated so as to replace the surfactant tri-n-octylphosphine oxide (TOPO) with pyridine, we find that photoluminescence is quenched. We demonstrate that the use of binary solvent mixtures is effective in controlling the dispersion of nanocrystals in a polymer. The phase separation can be tuned to nanometer scale by varying the solvent concentration. Since it is commonly believed that the morphology of the active layer influences electrical properties and photovoltaic performance, the nanostructural information obtained with the presented analytical techniques will contribute to a better understanding and improvement of present organic photovoltaic devices.
