Preparation of Calcium Phosphate Particles as a Drug Carrier and Controlled Release Kinetics |

Calcium phosphate (CaP) is known to possess excellent biocompatibility and, therefore, has been widely used as a bone substitute. In this study, we investigated the feasibility of CaP particles as a drug carrier for the promotion of bone regeneration. Osteogenic drug components were loaded in the CaP particles and the effects of drug loading on the physicochemical properties of CaP particles were thoroughly evaluated using various analytical methods, such as SEM, EDS, FT-IR, zeta potential, and HPLC. Our results strongly demonstrated that drug-loaded CaP particles can be a potential candidate for a suitable drug delivery carrier in hard tissue regeneration applications. |
