제목 Preparation and antimicrobial activities of electroless copper coated galss fiber reinforced composites
초록 In the present study a comparison of two different surface pre-treatments and their influence on a subsequent surface metallization were studied. Metallized glass fibers have the excellent properties and low price compared with carbon fiber. Metallized glass fibers (MGF) were fabricated by coating copper on the surface using electroless plating and the effects of antimicrobial on the properties of copper coated glass fibers were discussed. The antimicrobial activities and mechanical properties of composites were compared with those of glass fibers reinforced composites and pre-treated glass fiber reinforced composites, respectively. The results shows that copper coated glass fiber have good antimicrobial properties when compared with the GF composites. The antimicrobial of polymer composites comprising MGF was higher than that of the acid treated GF composites because of the disinfecting ability of copper.
