Formic acid is stable and clean chemicals. It can be used as raw material for synthesis of various kinds of chemicals such as methanol, acetic acid, etc., which have large demand on the chemical industry. Formic acid is also considered as storage of hydrogen, because it is stable liquid state in room temperature and atmospheric pressure. Furthermore, formic acid is easily decomposed to hydrogen and carbon dioxide under mild condition. For hydrogen storage, both formic acid synthesis and decomposition reactions should be developed. CO2 hydrogenation to formic acid is thermodynamically unfavorable (ΔG0 = +33 kJ mol-1). So, formic acid synthesis reaction is main barrier. Palladium is promising metal for hydrogen adsorbent. And N doped carbon is widely known as good CO2 adsorbent. Surface area can affect CO2 adsorption capacity. Therefore, carbon nitrdie can be good CO2 adsorbent |
