Photo-responsive egg PC liposome coated with HmPVA/EPC conjugate |

Photo-responsive egg PC liposome was prepared by coating the surface of egg yolk phosphatidylcholine (egg PC) liposomes with hydrophobically modified poly(vinylalcohol)-epoxypropoxycoumarin conjugate (HmPVA-EPC). Decanoyl chloride (DC) was used as a hydrophobic chain for the hydrophobic modification of PVA. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) determined by a fluorescence method using pyrene as a hydrophobic fluorescent probe. The ratio of the intensities at 372 and 383 nm (I372/I383) were then analyzed to determine CMC. EPC shows a photo reactivity under UV irradiation. Under irradiation of the light wavelength at 254nm (6W) for 3hr, EPC was dimeriazed through the formation of cyclobutane bridges. The release of 5(6)-carboxyfluorescein (CF) from egg PC liposome coated with HmPVA/EPC was enhanced by irradiation of λ = 254 nm (6W), possibly due to the photo-dedimerization of epoxypropoxy coumarin residues of the HmPVA. |
