Polyethyleneimine modified Janus micromotor for removal of hazardous metal ions |
초록 |
Environmental contamination with hazardous metal ions (i.e. heavy metals and radionuclides) has resulted from accidental releases of the contaminants from nuclear, medical, and industrial facilities. As an in situ method of remediating aquatic environments, we envision using an active colloidal adsorbent that can travel in an aqueous media to adsorb hazardous metal ions and that can be ultimately collected using an external magnetic field. We demonstrated the concept of such an active colloidal adsorbent by synthesizing a Janus micromotor composed of water reactive Mg microspheres and half-shells comprising magnetic Ni and polyethyleneimine layer. The polyethyleneimine layer of the Janus micromotor successfully chelated a variety of hazardous metal ions. |
