Solution-processed Blend Semiconductor Films for Organic Field-Effect Transistors |

We present here the structural and electrical characterization of solution-processed blend film of TIPS pentacene and poly(a-methylstyrene) as an active layer in field-effect transistors. The concentration profile and the crystallinity of TIPS pentacene within blend film was investigated with the neutron reflectivity and the grazing incidence X-ray scattering experiments. The structural characteristics of the blend semiconductor system provided a detailed understanding of the excellent electrical properties. We fabricated the blend field-effect transistors with a bottom-gate bottom-contact device configuration and obtained a charge carrier mobility of 0.24 cm2/Vs with an on/off ratio of 5x105 in ambient condition. Blending approach based on well-analyzed microstructure can be a promising solution-process method to combine excellent electrical properties of small molecular semiconductors with improved processability and stability of polymers. |
