Fe-Fe3C heterostructure embedded in carbon as a robust electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution reaction |
초록 |
The development of an efficient electrocatalyst that can accelerate OER at lower overpotential is vital for the commercialization of water electrolysis. Herein, we utilized food-waste as a carbon source for the synthesis of Fe-Fe3C heterostructure embedded in carbon (Fe-Fe3C@C). The as-prepared composite displayed excellent activity for the OER and required an overpotential of only 262 mV to attain the benchmark current density of 10 mA cm-2. The Tafel slope of 120 mV dec-1 was observed suggesting that the 1st electron transfer is the rate-determining step. Fe-Fe3C@C also exhibited excellent stability and retained its activity after 100 h of electrolysis. Based on the results from double-layer capacitance measurement and impedance analysis the superior performance of Fe-Fe3C@C was attributed to the superior electrochemically accessible surface area and low charge transfer resistance. |
