제목 Preparation and Characterization of Poly(ε-caprolactone)/Starch Microcapsule Containing Fragrant Oil
초록 Aliphatic polyesters derived from ε-caprolactone and their copolymers represent one important class of biocompatible and biodegradable materials that have many applications as biodegradable matrices for controlled drug release. The application of PCL for drug delivery has a drawback of slow degradation rate in vivo due to its high crystallinity and hydrophobicity. Enhancement of hydrophilicity of PCL has been achieved by the chemical addition of a hydrophilic moiety, such as starch. In this study, PCL/starch blend is carried out according to various starch contents. The effect of content of starch on the diameter and form of the microcapsule is observed by image analyzer and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The molecular interactions of the wall (PCL/starch) and core materials (fragrant oil) are determined from the mean contact angles. Encapsulation efficiency and fragrant oil release behaviors of PCL/starch microcapsules are characterized by UV/vis. spectra. As a result, the mean diameter of prepared microcapsules is 70 ㎛ and spherical forms are observed. Fragrant oil release rate of microcapsules is increased with increasing the content of starch.
