Glucose Sensors Fabricated by Piezoelectric Inkjet Printing |

The piezoelectric inkjet printing holds great promise for fabrication of miniaturized bioelectronic devices. In this study, enzymatic glucose biosensors based on conducting polymer/glucose oxidase/HRP composites were fabricated by the inkjet printing. Combination of GOx and HRP has a synergistic effect resulting in significant amplification of the response signal. The bioink was printed on ITO coated PET film by a piezoelectric inkjet printer. An image that has multiple squares (1X1 cm) with 564 dpi resolution was prepared The patterned film was covered with a cellulose acetate membrane. Response to different glucose concentrations was measured by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. Pt wire and Ag/AgCl electrode were used as counter and reference electrodes. The fabricated glucose sensor exhibited a linear dose-dependent electrochemical response to glucose from 240 uM to 640 uM with the sensitivity of 2.569 nA·cm-2·uM (R2=0.983). The lower detection limit was 0.24 mM glucose. |
