Herein, we fabricate a hetero-structured CuO nanowire decorated with Sn by Cu anodization and Sn electrodeposition. Because Sn undergoes severe pulverization caused by volume expansion of almost up to 300%, the stress induced during volume change should be mitigated. For this reason, 1-D structure of nanowire could be a fine solution, which enlarges the surface area of electrode. However, Sn nanowire itself still suffer harsh stress, so that CuO which can be used as an active material in anode was also synthesized. CuO nanowire as a structural framework increases the energy density of battery to eliminate conducting agent and binder. Compared with Sn film electrode, Sn/CuO nanowires electrode shows improved capacity retention, 89% up to 70th cycle. |
