Exploration of new building blocks for constructing accepting polymer has continuously been an important topic for carrying out the specific application. In the past few years, diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) has been found to be an excellent electron accepting moiety for developing a number of polymeric semiconductors. In this study, we replaced thiophene by thiazole which is bearing the electronegative nitrogen atom in order to further lower highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital levels of DPP polymers. The synthesized new polymer containing a DPP core flanked with two 2-thiazolyl substituents exhibited low lying energy levels significantly. Their materials properties were investigated using thermal analysis, cyclic voltammetry, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and absorption spectroscopy. |
