제목 | Surface modification of cellulose nanocrystals to improve the effect of fillers in poly (butylene succinate) film |
초록 | Poly (butylene succinate) (PBS) is one of representative biodegradable polymers which are commercially available. However, it certainly needs to incorporate fillers for enhancing mechanical properties and usability. Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) are attractive material to employ as a filler due to its mechanical strength, versatility and eco-friendliness. Hydrophilic surface of CNCs were esterified by PBS oligomers to increase dispersibility in non-polar conditions. PBS oligomers-modified CNCs (PBS/CNC) were well-dispersed in PBS matrix, which resulted in dramatically decrease of spherulite size of PBS matrix during cooling crystallization. Overall, tensile strength and rheological properties were reinforced by well-dispersed matrix of PBS/CNCs. It suggests that PBS/CNCs have potential in wide range of commercial products including biomedical materials,single use plastics, and food packaging applications. |
