Electrospun Poly (lactide) nanofibers containing Silver nanoparticles |

Poly (lactic acid) (PLA) is a biodegradable and biocompatible polymer which is being used in various applications including packing and biomedical field. Silver nanoparticles are improved in antibacterial activity and sterilization. The solution of poly (lactic acid) (PLA) in dichloromethane/dimethylacetamide (DMAc) with a small amount of AgNO3 was investigated. Silver nanoparticles were fabricated by reduction of Ag+ ions in DMAc. The solvent of DMAc was used as a reducing agent for the Ag+ ions in PLA solution. Silver nanoparticles were homogeneously distributed in PLA nanofibers. The silver nanoparticles were effective to form finer PLA nanofiber. The viscosity of PLA solution containing silver nanoparticles was affected by the formation of nanofibers at various conditions. The relationship between rheological properties and morphology of electrospun fibers were discussed. |
