Carbon nanotubes (CNT) exhibit extraordinary mechanical, thermal, and electrical properties due to their unique one-dimensional all-carbon structure. However, the surfaces of MWNT have hydrophobic properties, so the previous metallic nanoparticle with hydrophilic property can not deposited on the surface of MWNT. In this study, we performed the functionalization of MWNT by radiation-induced polymerization of acrylic acid (AAc), methacrylic acid (MAc), glycidyl methacrylate (GMA), maleic anhydride (MAn), and 4-vinylphenylboronic acid (VPBAc), respectively, in order to change hydrophobic properties to hydrophilic properties of MWNT surface. Subsequently, we deposited the Pt-Ru nanoparticle by gama-irradiation reduction of metallic ion in aqueous solution. Electrocatalytic efficiency of the obtained samples was determined for CO and MeOH using cyclic voltammetry. As results, the prepared catalysts can be used for anode catalysts in DMFC. |
