Recycling of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a critical environment problem because of its enormous consumption in various fields and the non-degradability of PET. Among various chemical recycling methods of PET, the glycolysis of PET is widely used in industrial fields because of mild reaction conditions and high-yield of valuable and versatile bis(hydroxyethyl) terephthalate (BHET) monomer. Here, a recyclable heterogeneous catalyst of metal nanoparticle-deposited hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) nanosheets is developed by using a fluid dynamic process. The as-obtained catalysts show a high conversion of PET, a high yield, and a good recycling performance for glycolysis reaction of PET. Moreover, the use of fluid dynamic process in glycolysis of PET delivers much greater reaction performances compared to the conventional hydrothermal-based degradation of PET. |
