Role of Morphology in Determining Anhydrous Ion Transport in Polymer Electrolyte Membranes |
초록 |
Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) have the potential to supply clean energy for transportation vehicles. However currently commercialized PEMs have several problems such as CO poisoning of Pt catalysts due to low operating temperature below 80℃. In this study we report the ionic liquid (IL) doped block copolymer membranes for high temperature fuel cell applications. The partially sulfonated poly(styrenesulfonate-b-methylbuthylene) (SnMBm) copolymers with different molecular weight and ion contents are employed as matrices. As proton mediators, imidazolium based ILs with different anions are selectively incorporated into hydrophilic domains of SnMBm copolymers. By Increasing of the amount of ILs and varying the kinds of ILs, various morphologies have been observed. Interestingly, it has been found that the morphology of resulting composite membranes plays central roles in determining ionic conductivity of the systems. |
