제목 High-performance Polyamide Thin-film Nanocomposite Membranes Containing MOF/CNT Hybrid Material for Reverse Osmosis Desalination
초록 Reverse osmosis (RO) based on water/salt selective polyamide (PA) membranes has been a leading technology in desalination market for decades. Still, there are several challenges such as low-flux, degradation by chlorine, and fouling phenomena due to the intrinsic properties of PA membranes. One approach to overcome the limitations is preparation of thin-film nanocomposite membranes (TFNs) containing inorganic fillers to integrate the advantages of both phases. In this work, we prepared metal-organic framework (MOF)/carbon nanotube (CNT) hybrid material as an efficient filler for high-performance TFNs. The resultant MOF/CNT hybrid not only combines the merits of both MOF and CNT but also yields a uniform dispersion of MOF onto CNT walls, thus efficiently preventing the agglomeration of MOFs in the PA matrix. We found that MOF/CNT-embedded TFNs outperformed the TFNs solely containing each single filler, demonstrating the synergetic effects of MOF and CNT.
