제목 Low density sodium silicate-based hydrophobic silica aerogel beads by a novel fast gelation process and ambient pressure drying
초록 A method of synthesizing low density transparent mesoporous silica aerogel beads by ambient pressure drying was reported. The beads were prepared by acid-base sol-gel polymerization of sodium silicate via the ball dropping method in aqueous ammonia solution. In order to minimize the drying shrinkage, the silica wet beads were prepared first; then its surface was modified usingTMCS via simultaneous solvent exchange& surface modification. The silica aerogel beads with low packing bed density and high surface area was obtained when 10%V of TMCS was used. Properties of the final product were examined by FE-SEM,BET& TG-DTA.
