제목 Iridium Oxide Inverse-opal Electrode as Anode Catalyst Layer for Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Water Electrolysis
초록 Polymer electrolyte membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) is one of the most promising devices for producing high purity hydrogen without pollutant emission. Basically, PEMWE is composed of three main components; an anode for oxygen evolution reaction (OER), a solid polymer electrolyte membrane, and a cathode for hydrogen evolution reaction. Among them, the anode is the most important one that determines the performance and durability of PEMWE due to its sluggish OER and highly corrosive environments. However, platinum group metals (PGMs) such as Ir, Ru and their oxides are generally used as the anode catalyst material. Therefore, it is essential that novel anode electrode structure is developed for high catalyst utilization. In this study, iridium oxide inverse-opal structure was applied as anode catalyst layer using the decal transfer process which is more facile and reproducible method. Moreover, the inverse-opal MEA exhibited comparable performance with ultra-low catalyst loading.
