Shape memory polymer materials have received much attention recently in various applications and are comparable to shape memory alloys. For practical applications, analysis of shape recovery force for shape memory polymers is important. In this study, time-dependent shape recovery force is analyzed for polyurethane and multi-walled carbon nanotubes(MWNTs)-polyurethane nanocomposites. The measured shape recovery force showed the sharp increase initially and then decreased gradually to reach an equilibrium value. In case of CNT nanocomposites, the time-dependent shape recovery force was strongly dependent on the MWNT content, and as a result, the improved shape recovery force could be obtained. A long-term analysis of shape recovery force is dealt with structural change of materials.
