The effects of solvents such as C1-C4 alcohols and water during the preparation of Co/Al2O3 (CATAPAL B) Fischer-Tropsch catalysts have been investigated. The catalysts prepared from the solvents of methanol and ethanol showed higher CO conversion with marginal difference in C5+ selectivity. On Co/Al2O3 prepared from methanol solvent, the CO conversion and C5+ selectivity were 15% and 86% respectively at the following reaction conditions; T = 220 oC, P = 20 bar and SV = 2000 L/kgcat/h. These differences in FTS activities were elucidated by the results obtained from BET, TPR and XRD analysis. |
