제목 Fabrication of Robust, High-Quality Three-Dimensional Colloidal Crystals Films
초록 Colloidal crystals have been studied extensively over the past decade because of their applications. Among them, 3-D colloidal crystals have attracted a great deal of attention because of their unique structure and optical properties. In this paper, we report a new procedure which can produce robust, high-quality 3-D colloidal crystals using a convective assembly. 3-D PS colloidal crystals of much higher quality can be fabricated in a convective assembly process by introducing water-soluble polymer into the colloidal suspension. The presence of the water-soluble polymer in the aqueous phase enables the colloidal particles to uniformly assemble on the entire substrate and to arrange into more hexagonally close-packed single crystalline domains. Accordingly, the crack and defect density can be reduced. In addition, the physical stability of the final 3-D colloidal crystals is improved because each particle is bonded to neighboring particles and to the substrate by polymer bridges.
