Ketal Cross-Linked Block Copolymer Micelles with Enhanced Robustness and pH-Controlled Drug-Releasing Property |

Recent advances in functional polymer micelles have led to the development of smart nanocarriers that can exhibit the high delivery efficiency for cancer chemotherapy. However, the assembled structure of polymer micelles tends to dissociate upon intravenous administration due to their low structural stability. This results not only in the drug release at unwanted sites but also in the loss of targetability of polymer micelles. Herein, we describe acid labile ketal cross-linked polymer micelles for effective anticancer drug delivery. Ketal cross-links could enable polymer micelles to maintain stability in extracellular conditions, and could be hydrolyzed to facilitate the release of doxorubicin (DOX) in endosomal pH. The micelles could load DOX effectively and control the drug release rate by adjusting pH. |
