제목 Preparation of PEO-PS block copolymers using ARGET ATRP
초록 ATRP technique has been widely used to prepare such copolymers since its relatively low complexity in performing reactions. However, in biomedical applications, metallic contaminant from ATRP catalyst could be detrimental. Developed ATRP processes, such as ARGET(Activators ReGenerated by Electron Transfer) and ICAR(Initiators for Continuous Activator Regeneration), use low concentration of metal catalyst, and could be good choices to prepare PEO-based block copolymers for biomedical applications. However, since ARGET uses low concentration of deactivators, highly polar groups can be deteriorate the metal complex to make the polymerization uncontrolled. In this study, several PEO-based block copolymers was prepared using ARGET ATRP. Effects of polar groups in PEO, comonomers, and solvent on the polymerization were elucidated to find the optimized conditions for preparing block copolymers. Self-assembly behaviors of the PEO-based block copolymers in aqueous media were also discussed.
