Nature is a valuable origin of inspiration for the design of new structures pursuing sustainability. Diverse organisms in nature have biodegradable protective multilayers surrounding liquid core, such as hen’s eggs. Here, we fabricated concentric polymer capsules to create the outstanding membrane protecting the encapsulated nutrients. The coacervation induced biodegradable membrane can exhibit pH-responsive characteristics, inducing tight protective layers capturing inner agents against external acidic pH, and promoting rapid degradation in basic pH, apt to be applied as sustainable cosmetics container tools. The pH-responsive fully biodegradable coacervate capsules demonstrated their great potency to be used as eco-friendly containers for the storage of beneficial nutrients. The remarkable characteristics of capsules, non-porous structure derived little release of inner agents against acidic pH and rapid degradation in basic pH, will broaden their application in cosmetics industry. |
