The demand for electrode materials with higher reversible capacity than carbon-based materials has stimulated researchers to explore many different types of materials as the negative electrode for lithium-ion batteries. We selected the tin (Sn) material as candidate of anode material. The theoretical specific capacities of Sn are 994mAh/g, which is much higher than that of the conventional graphite anode. But, Sn has shown severe volumetric changes and internal stress during charge and discharge, which results in the crumbling of active materials and conduction network breakage, leading to poor cyclability. To solve this problem, we prepared carbon-coated Tin nanoparticle (NP) deposited on graphite particle through various process. |
