Light-triggered SMPs are new class of smart polymers which can recover to its original shape from a temporarily fixed shape upon irradiation with a light. To achieve the photo-activity, photothermal agent such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs), graphene oxide (GO) and gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) are usually added into a matrix polymer. In this study, a light-responsive biodegradable and biocompatible shape memory polycaprolactone(PCL)/polyaniline(PANI) composites was synthesized by ring-opening polymerization of caprolactone in the presence of PANI nanoparticles, and a subsequent crosslinking with diisocyanate. The PCL/PANI composite networks exhibit shape memory effect on exposure to near-infrared (NIR) light. Thermomechanical properties of the hybrid networks with different content of PANI and degree of crossliking were also examined by tensile testing, DMA and DSC. |
