sunscreens are being developed to protect skin from UV radiation. However, small molecular weight sunscreens were absorbed through the skin due to its small molecular weight after topical application and acts as an environmental hormone. To prevent adverse effects of sunscreens, we designed a sunscreen that is composed of organic sunscreen and biocompatible polysaccharide. this sunscreen has an increased molecular weight by polysaccharide. In this study, we compared the UV protection efficacy of conventional sunscreen and our newly synthesized sunscreen. Also, we measured the difference of their skin penetrative behaviors using skin permeation test and confocal laser scanning microscopy. after topical applications of sunscreens, plasma was collected over time to determine the correlation between degree of skin penetration and molecular weight. |
