Organic-inorganic composites of polyaniline and barium titanate (PANI-BaTiO3) were synthesized via an in-situ oxidation polymerization of aniline in the presence of BaTiO3 nanoparticles in acidic medium. Barium titanate (BaTiO3) has large electric resistance and relatively high dielectric constant which is one of the essential properties of electrorheological (ER) application. ER effect shows the most promised application which is phase controllable from a liquid-like to a solid-like state under an external electric field. It was found that the composite materials have a much higher yield stress than pristine PANI through the ER measurement. The microstructure and composition of the composites were characterized via SEM, TGA, and FT-IR, respectively. |
