Chitosan (CHN) has good biocompatibility and biodegradability and is one of the representative natural biopolymers widely used in drug delivery systems. Its biodegradability can control drug release kinetics. By combining with other compounds, the physical properties of CHN can be greatly changed. Catechin is known to have various pharmacological effects, including anti-oxidative, anti-tumor, anti-bacterial activities. In this study, we extracted catechin from green tea and incorporated catechin in CHN microspheres. Depending on formulation conditions, we evaluated the effects on proliferation and differentiation of osteoblast.
