Chemotherapy (CT) is one of the conventional treatments for cancer but causes a large number of severe side effects owing to their low tumor specificity. To overcome these issues, various and innovative materials for drug delivery systems (DDS) have been designed for drug delivery. In particular, poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) is the optimal carrier for DDS due to biocompatibility and adjustable material properties. To control the release rate of the drug, here we designed a micropatterned PEG hydrogel that contains a peptide crosslinker H-Cys-Tyr-Lys-Cys-OH (CYKC) cleavable with α-chymotrypsin, methacrylated hyaluronic acid (meHA), and an anti-cancer drug. We expect these strategies can be a promising controlled drug delivery system in the future. |
