제목 Light-responsive shape memory effect of maleated polyolefin elastomer/sulfonated polyaniline blends
초록 Shape-memory polymers (SMPs) are stimuli-responsive materials that can remember its permanent shape from a temporarily fixed shape under an external stimulus, such as temperature change. Light activated SMPs are new kinds of smart materials and have significant technical applications ranging from biomedical devices to aerospace technology. Here, near-infrared (NIR) light-responsive shape memory elastomer is developed by melt blending of semicrystalline maleated polyolefin elastomer (mPOE) with sulfonated polyaniline (sPANI). Molau test, FT-IR, and DMA showed that the sPANI is grafted onto mPOE, resulting in a physically crosslinked structure in the blends. The elastomeric mPOE/sPANI blends exhibit shape memory effect at room temperature on exposure to NIR light, indicating that sPANI domains in the blend act as NIR-triggered heaters. It was also observed that the light-responsive shape memory effect is enhanced by the addition of zinc oxide (ZnO) into mPOE/sPANI blend by mixing.
