Two-dimensional transition metal disulfides(TMDs) nanosheets, including MoS2, WS2, TaS2 and TiS2 were synthesized by using sonication method. From bulk materials, TMDs were exfoliated into single and few layers with few hundred nanometer in size. These materials were used as hole injection layers(HILs) in organic light-emitting diode(OLED) and also loaded on Au electrodes for the use of hydrogen evolution reaction(HER). The turn-on voltages at 10 cd/m2 for UVO-treated TMD-based green OLEDs decreased from 7.3–12.8 to 4.3–4.4V and maximum luminance efficiencies increased from 5.74–9.04 to 12.01–12.66cd/A. In case of TMD catalysts for HER, Mo-, W-, Ta- and TiS2 show low onset potentials of ∼100, 150, 175 and 135mV, respectively, at a current density of -1 mA/cm2. MoS2 and TiS2 exhibited the best HER performance with Tafel slopes of 94.91 and 91mV/decade. These results indicated that TMD nanosheets have also potential applications as HER catalysts for the mass production of hydrogen. |
