Electrochromic Windows by Layer-By-Layer Assembly |

Layer-by-layer self-assembly technique allows precise control of molecular assembly and the fabrication of uniformly-coated ultrathin nanofilms. Using poly(aniline-N-butylsulfonate)s (PANBUS) as polyanion and vinyl benzyl dimethyl alkyl ammonium-chloride (VBDA) and polyaniline as the counter cation, electrochromic (EC) multilayer films were prepared. Multilayer films deposition on an indium-tin oxide (ITO) substrate was characterized by the absorbance change of UV-visible spectroscopy and layer thickness. An all solid state EC display based on an optimized LBL composition showed high EC response at 2.5 V within 5s with a stable memory effect. The comparison of the electrochromic properties of multilayers coated on ITO glass will be presented. |
