Ceria Nanoparticles and Their Nanohybrids: Syntheses and Applications |

Ceria and its hybrids are well known for their wide spectrum of applications. Herein, a series of ceria nanoparticles with different morphology such as ceria nanorods (NRs) and ceria nanosphere (NSs) were synthesized. Between ceria NRs and ceria NSs, ceria NRs exposed more high-energy (100) and (110) planes and showed a higher Ce3+/Ce4+ molar ratio. The medical test showed that ceria NRs exhibited higher therapeutic effects on alleviating cerebral edema following in vivo mTBI and on decreasing brain water content compared with those of ceria NSs. In the next step, various nanohybrids are developed based on ceria NRs. The resulted materials show good activities in biomedical application and catalysis. |
