Electroluminescent organic materials have recently received much of attention due to their potential industrial applications. Particularly, metal complex has been known to enhance phosphorescent effect by strong spin-orbit coupling which leads to mixing of the singlet and triplet excited states. We found when the electron-rich phenothiazine derivative is red emitting, it is well-suited to excite of the red emitting core. We have synthesized two Iridium complexes such as Ir(piq)2(acac) and Ir(piq)2(pic). The effects of ancillary ligands, acac and pic were discussed and compared in this study. These compounds were characterized via 1H-NMR, UV-vis spectra and the electro-optical properties have been observed using photoluminescence spectra, and cyclic voltammetry. As the result, the band gaps of Ir(piq)2(acac) and Ir(piq)2(pic) are 2.07 and 2.16 eV and the maximum peaks of PL specta were measured at 690 and 605nm, respectively. |
