제목 | Investigation of effects of Sn addition to the carbon-supported Pt electrocatalysts on the electrooxidation of primary alcohols |
초록 | Direct alcohol fuel cells (DAFCs), using renewable and environmentally friendly primary liquid fuels instead of fossil hydrocarbon, have been considered to be a potential development of fuel cells in terms of fuel usage and feed strategies [1]. In this study, We synthesized several carbon supported bimetallic PtSn electrocatalysts with different Pt:Sn atomic ratios (a metal loading of 20 wt. %) using borohydride reduction method with the freeze-drying procedures. The structure of catalysts was investigated by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and the EXAFS, together with the electronic structure investigation of the Pt phase as the Sn content varied through XPS, XANES. The electro-catalytic activities of the catalysts were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) technique. Metal loadings on all catalysts were determined by inductively coupled plasma (ICP) analysis.
