Synthesis and properties of novel siloxane imidazolium and pyridinium iodides for dye-sensitized solar cell |

A new type of cationic siloxane imidazolium iodide or pyridinium iodide (MSII, MSPI) based ionic liquids was synthesized to improve photovoltaic properties in dye-sensitized solar cells. Various properties of electrolytes such as viscosities, ion diffusion coefficients, thermogravic analysis and photovoltaic properties were studied. MSII and MSPI are shown brown color with liquid state. The resulting electrolytes were characterized by 1H NMR, FT-IR, TGA, ion-conductivity and diffusion coefficient. The thermo oxidative stabilities of synthesized compounds have satisfactory thermal stability comparable with DMII. MSII showed a maximum photo-conversion efficiency of 6.9%. In addition, the performance of the DSSCs showed relatively reasonable compared with the imidazolium type DMII electrolyte. |
