1,3-Dibuthylimidazolium bromide, 1,3-dibuthylimidazolium tetraflourobornate, and 1,3-dibuthylimidazolium hexaflourophosphate are synthesized and used as the supporting electrolytes in vanadium triacetylacetate redox flow batteries. The cyclic voltammograms of the V(acac)3 in the DIBr, DIBF4, DIPF6, and tetrabutylamonium hexaflulorophosphate (TEAPF6) as model support electrolytes are measured. The cyclic voltammograms show stable performance in an operating potential range (−2.5–1.0 V). The charge–discharge performances of the non-aqueous V(acac)3 electrolytes with DIBr, DIBF4, DIPF6, and TEAPF6 as the supports are evaluated in flow single cell, respectively. The potential windows lies between 1.0 V and 1.2 V and are as following order: DIPF6 > DIBF4 > TEAPF6 > DIBr electrolyte. |
