Surface modification and characteristics of PET thin film by physico-chemical treatment |

In this study, surface of PET thin film was physic-chemically modified using various trialkoxy alkyl silane and fluorination to improve its hydrophobicity and oleophobicity. The different trialkoxy alkyl silanes, trimethoxy methyl silane, trimethoxy propyl silane, and hexadecyl trimethoxy silane, were used to enhance surface roughness of the film and lower surface energy. Fluorination was also carried out for further decrease in the film surface energy. Surface chemical changes of the modified films were characterized by XPS and hydrophobicity and oleophobicity of the films were evaluated using contact angle measurements. |
