Poly(GMA-co-PEGDA) microbeads were synthesized by suspension polymerization and modified with imminodiacetic acid. The structures of the microbeads were confirmed by Fourier transform infred (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The peak at 1250 cm-1, 912 cm-1 and 765 cm-1 resulted from symmetrical stretching of the epoxy ring, asymmetrical ring stretching of C-C bond and 12 micron band respectively. The microbeads were spheres, irrespective of the components and their seizes ranged 30-250 μm. The basic performance of poly(GMA-co-PEDGDA) microbeads were measured. The synthetic yields were ranged 87~98%. The water uptake and ion exchange capacity were ranged 30~70% and 0.936~2.872 meq/g, respectively. Indium adsorption properties onto the microbeads and their kinetics were investigated. The maximum adsorption predicted by the Langmuir adsorption isotherm and Freundlich adsorption model. |
