Photocatalytic activity of TiO2-coated upconversion phosphor (UP), NaYF4:Yb3+, Er3+ was investigated. UP particles were coated with TiO2 nanoparticles using sol-gel technique. Photocatalytic activity was investigated using aqueous methylene blue (MB) solution under visible irradiation. All samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction, PL, transmission electron microscopy and FESEM techniques. TiO2-coated UP particles showed enhanced photocatalytic activity than the as prepared pure TiO2 powders. UP particles showed good upconversion intensity under irradiation with 980 nm laser light. The main upconversion emissions peaks for UP were located at 537 nm and 653 nm. |
