Improvement of Open Circuit Voltage in Organic Photovoltaic Cells by Using The Novel High LUMO Level Acceptor Materials |

In this study, we propose the high LUMO level acceptor materials can improve the power conversion efficiency of OPVs by increasing the open circuit voltage (Voc). We designed and synthesized novel fullerene materials from simple one-pot reaction. By using these materials as an acceptor with a mixture of P3HT donor, we can obtain 4.74% power conversion efficiency with an open circuit voltage of 0.8V under AM 1.5G simulated light illumination. Also, we studied on the development of printing process, especially Aerosol Jet Printing, and 4.41% of PCE can be achieved with a short circuit current density (Jsc) of 8.1 mA/cm2, a fill factor (FF) of 0.68, and an open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.81 V under 100 mW/cm2 AM1.5 simulated light illumination, which is the highest value in P3HT donor based printed OPVs system. Other photovoltaic performance of OPVs using these fullerene derivatives as an acceptor will be discussed in detail. |
