Dynamics of electrical percolation network in polymer-carbon nanotube(CNT) composites is investigated by using MD simulation and a percolation theory. The percolation network can form only when the CNT concentration is increased beyond a critical value, a percolation threshold concentration. There have been many studies to minimize the percolation threshold. Such studies have usually focused on the structure and the thermodynamics of composites without understanding of dynamics of the percolation network, which would shed light on how to improve the electrical conductivity of composites. Therefore, in this study we investigate the dynamics of the networks by using simulations. We find that the dynamics of the electrical percolation network is sensitive to the van der Waals interaction, the CNT aspect ratio and the kinds of polymers. We also observe that the dynamics of the network shows a clear transition as the CNT concentration reaches the percolation threshold concentration. |
