Surface acetylated cellulose nanofibers were prepared from nature cellulose fiber by simple process. Initially, nature cellulose fibers were chemically modified by iodine catalyzed acetylation and then, introduced to nanofibers by ultra-sonication. The surface acetylated cellulose nanofibers (ca. 40 nm) were characterized by FTIR, XRD, and SEM. The nanofibers have still high crystallinity similar to that of cellulose fiber. The prepared nanofibers can be potentially applied in various fields, such as nanocomposites, filtration media, packaging, and so on. |
